The School Reform Commission signed an "education accountability agreement" with state and city officials, giving them unparalleled access to data in the district's nearly $2.8 billion budget.

Committee chairman and state Sen. Jeff Piccola, R-Dauphin, introduced SB 1087, which would give $1.4 million to the state's Education Department in return for tougher teacher evaluations tied to student test scores.
