2,000 large, color postcards are being printed urging PA legislators to reinstate funding for the POWER Library databases and ACCESS PA statewide union catalog that have been drastically cut over the past year and again for 2010-11 in the Governor's proposed budget. For 412 of the 500 school districts, the POWER databases were the ONLY vetted, educational databases the students had access to.  These resources were also available to the general public through public libraries.

On October 5, 2010, the Pa. House of Representatives unanimously passed HR 987, a resolution asking the State Board of Education with Pa. Dept. of Education to conduct a study of public school library services for K-12 students. The study will measure and compare access to print and electronic resources, support and instruction in the use of information and research and evaluate how resources are allocated for school library services in relation to student and community circumstances. PSLA in concert with the Education Law Center has been working on this for about a year!
