About Us

What are Our Core Beliefs?

We believe all students deserve public schools that provide excellent and equitable opportunities to learn. School improvements are needed in communities across the country, especially for children and youth facing education challenges: students in poverty, students of color, students learning English, students with disabilities, or students living away from home or family.

What is School Victories?

School Victories is a tool for advocates, educators, and groups to plan, share, and inspire advocacy and organizing efforts aimed at improving public schools and creating excellent opportunities to learn for all students.

How is School Victories used?

Advocates, educators, and groups can also use this online tool to display  advocacy and organizing efforts aimed at improving public schools and creating excellent opportunities to learn for all students. For instance, School Victories could:

  • Demonstrate the importance of adequate funding for public schools.
  • Show the reforms that are needed to improve NCLB/ESEA as Congress debates this issue.
  • Document the advocacy efforts of your group to improve local and state education policies for children with disabilities, English language learners, students in poverty, and their families.
  • Hold local schools, states, and the federal government accountable for effectively investing education funding and resources (stimulus funding, state funding, Title I funding, etc.).

In addition, advocates, educators, and groups can use School Victories to create their own Web site; or, if they already have a strong Web site, they can use School Victories to display basic information about their work and then link back to their own site.  Support, technical assistance, data, and resources materials are also available on School Victories.

Why use School Victories?

By broadcasting this important work using text, web links, photos, videos — or all four— School Victories users are promoting that work and providing valuable information to others who are working on similar issues in other communities. Most importantly, by joining the School Victories team, advocates, educators, and groups will learn from the efforts of others throughout the country, and have others learn from their work. Everyone will find the tools on School Victories provide an easy way to plan and share school improvement work.

What is the Education Law Center's role in School Victories?

School Victories is a project of the Education Law Center-PA, with generous support from the Ford Foundation and the William Penn Foundation. ELC created School Victories for others to use.  ELC does not use the site to promote its own work or agenda over the priorities of other site users. If you have questions about the project or need technical assistance please contact Brett Schaeffer at the Education Law Center.
